When I was a kid, I thought we'd all get along better if every spent at least an hour outside everyday. I remembered that today.

Dear Belle Isle,
Jewel of the river, diamond at the throat of the Great Lakes. Stolen, still-sovereign.
Your marshes woods and shores are home to many and refuge to more.
Thank you for all that you are (your slimy sweetness, your shiny greenness, your splashy wetness, your noisy aliveness) from all of us (visitors and residents, walking, flying, swimming and crawling).

Soft as rolling water, still as lily pads reflecting a golden sun. As loud as evening crickets and steady as gentle waves that lap upon the shores.
Stay.
